The 2014 Primary elections will take place in March of 2014. It is never to early to start planning. If you are a candidate considering running for office or an incumbent running for re-election, here is what you need to be thinking about before September 1st.
1. Engage a fundraising consultant. Money in campaigns is the #1 resource and putting together your finance plan and team should be a top priority. In order to successfully reach your campaign financing goals, you need a strong fundraising plan that includes timelines and goals.
2. Send a Newsletter. An easy and cost effective way to communicate with your supporters and engage potential voters is through a monthly newsletter. Your newsletter should focus on topics of interest in your community & should be informative and relevant and include interesting photos of you on the campaign trail.
3. Get organized. August is a good month to do an inventory of your resources and tools. Use your time wisely this month and gather lists of potential donors and supporters, contact potential volunteers who can help with your campaign, set up a spreadsheets of the GOP leadership in your district and set up a meeting with your kitchen cabinet about plans for your upcoming campaign.
